Healthcare Library Search Changes August 2023

From 16th August 2023 the Library Search on the Healthcare Library website will be retired and replaced with our new Library Services discovery platform powered by Primo from ExLibris.

You will still be able to search all our current range of Library resources including books, ebooks, journals, ejournals, articles, and databases from the new single search box, only the interface is changing, and the presentation will be different.  We will maintain access to our legacy systems until 30th September 2023 to facilitate the transition to the new interface.

See Healthcare Library Search Changes for more information on how the change may affect you.

ClinicalKey App
ClinicalKey have now redesigned their app

You can download it from the Google Play Store or App Store.

Not sure how it works? Check out this tutorial by Koon Wan Chan here.

The Clinicalkey app has access to over 1000 books, 800 journals, 1500 clinical overviews, 2500 drug monographs, 600 clinical calculators and 6,000,000 images.

So what’s it actually for? Well, if you’re in a patient facing role, you can use it to quickly double check a query, to develop or confirm your assessment of a case and to enable you to keep track of new developments.

It has uses for non-patient facing roles for learning, teaching and research purposes.

So why not check it out and give it a go today. Click here for instructions on how to download the app and get started.

Struggling with your mental health?
New Wellbeing Guide Available

The Healthcare Library is always looking at how to best support you. For this reason we’ve developed our new HSC Wellbeing Guide: https://libguides.qub.ac.uk/HSCWellbeing

It has details about wellbeing areas and equipment you can use. We also have two physical book collections. Can’t get down to a branch? We’ve a list of online resources, including e-books and apps to help improve your mental health.

All our library branches aim to offer a quiet haven where you can retreat. However, we also have dedicated spaces, specifically to promote wellbeing with comfortable seats, books to assist in maintaining your mental health and some light fiction.

Each area offers slightly different equipment and resources so check out the guide for more information.

We know that a lot of you don’t have time to attend our branches, so we also have links to a variety of online resources. These include some apps, some of which are specially offering free membership to NHS staff.

Please take 5 minutes and check out what is on offer to you.
